Planner:
The primary purpose for a supply planner is to develop and implement a production planning and inventory management strategy to support customer service goals and achieve the company’s financial goals. This role will monitor and report on status, demand for and inventory of assigned products. The role will also monitor stock levels for critical and obsolete parts, suggest and explain to management life time buys of components and assist with development of new vendors. This is a critical role that will own the product life cycle, understand the build plan, and manage throughput.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Responsible for procurement plans including inventory requirements
• Manage supply chain planning activities
• Understand and manage supplier capacity, loading and lead time
• Work closely with manufacturing and operations to optimize planning to match orders and forecasts
• Maintain parts planning data in order to optimize inventory levels according to production plan and policy
• Provide clarity on material availability to management
• Manage forecast execution and gaps
• Maintain and improve inventory planning and control systems
• Manage the elimination of slow moving and obsolete materials
• Facilitate early involvement in new product development – to minimize time to market.
• Analyze/categorize backlog by product line, tool, dollar value, location and other parameters as defined by customers and management.
• Conduct regularly scheduled reviews on backlog with Customer Service and Operations Personnel.
• Research and implement opportunities to reduce product costs and inventory investments
Education:
Undergraduate degree required– preferably in applicable business or technical curriculum
Experience:
3+ years relevant experience required
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Excellent verbal / written communication / interpersonal skills. Able to communicate effectively with associates and involved third parties – including all levels of management.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office / Windows, ERP (Oracle), Financial and Engineering software.
• APIC’s certification and continuing education
